INDIANAPOLIS – Recent UConn women's basketball alumna Kia Nurse has been named a Top 30 honoree for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, as announced by the NCAA Thursday.
A record 581 school nominees was narrowed to 154 conference office nominees, from which the 30 honorees were selected. The selection committee will announce the nine finalists, including three women from each NCAA division, in early October. The Top 30 will be celebrated and the Woman of the Year will be named Oct. 28 at a ceremony in Indianapolis.
In her four years at UConn, Nurse helped the Huskies to two NCAA Championships and eight American Athletic Conference Championships.
