NEW YORK – Houston guard Quentin Grimes was selected in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft Thursday night, July 29, inside the Barclays Center.
Grimes was selected No. 25 overall by the Los Angeles Clippers, who have a proposed trade with the New York Knicks. He is the 12 Cougar to be selected in the first round and 44 player from Houston to be drafted overall.
He is the sixth student-athlete from The American to be selected in the first round. Grimes was a consensus third-team All-American in 2020-21, was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was the league tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
