PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Four baseball and softball student-athletes from the American Athletic Conference have been named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday (June 11).
East Carolina baseball junior Alec Burleson, Memphis baseball senior Alec Trela, USF softball junior Georgina Corrick and Tulane baseball senior Grant Mathews have been named First-Team Academic All-Americans. The American had the most first-team selections of any conference on the baseball side.
Burleson, also a Third-Team Academic All-American in 2019, earned 2020 Collegiate Baseball All-America accolades and five First-Team All-America honors in 2019. At the plate, he hit .
