IRVING, Texas – Two American Athletic Conference men’s soccer players were named to the 2022 Academic All-America teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Wednesday.
FIU’s senior defender David Garcia was named to the First Team, while Charlotte’s senior forward Alex Willis was named to the Second Team.
Garcia started all 20 matches for the Panthers this season, helping guide FIU to an American Athletic Conference Championship and a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. He scored two goals for the Panthers during the season and was the Defensive Player of the Week in The American for the last week of the season.
