DURHAM, N.C. – The FIU men's soccer team fell to Duke on Sunday afternoon, 1-0, in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
A 41st minute goal from the Blue Devils proved to be enough to end the Panthers' postseason run.
FIU was aggressive for the full 90 minutes, outshooting Duke 14-10, but could not find an equalizer.
The 19th minute nearly saw FIU take the early lead as a corner kick led to three shots inside the Duke penalty area, but all three were blocked by Blue Devil defenders.
Duke would break the stalemate in the 41st minute after the Blue Devils' Scotty Taylor redirected a corner kick just inside the far post.
