The Charlotte 49ers used goals from Jaedon Richardson and Natsuki Ogata to shutout Furman 2-0 at Transamerica Field on Monday. The Charlotte defense held visiting Furman (2-1-1) to just three total shots in the win.
The Niners improved to 2-0-1 after outshooting Furman 16-3. Richardson scored his second goal in consecutive games, giving Charlotte a 1-0 lead less than a minute before halftime. In the 64th minute, Ogata scored his first goal of the season (and first since October 22, 2023). Virginia Tech transfer Ben Fisher was credited with assists on both goals, which gives him a team-high three assists for the 2024 campaign.
