PROVIDENCE, R.I. - UConn captured the No. 1 seed for the sixth consecutive season, topping the 2019 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship bracket after closing out an unbeaten conference slate on Monday. All 12 American Athletic Conference teams will travel to Mohegan Sun Arena March 8-11 to compete for the championship title and the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Championship.
The tournament field is based on regular-season league records with the top four seeds earning first-round byes.
No. 1 UConn (28-2, 16-0 American) clinched its sixth-consecutive regular season title last week and closed out with a 57-47 win over USF on Monday evening.
