PROVIDENCE, R.I. – American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco announced today that Barbara Jacobs, American Associate Commissioner for Women’s Basketball, will retire following the conclusion of the 2019-20 school year. Jacobs has been a member of the conference staff since 1995.
Jacobs, who oversees all aspects of The American’s women’s basketball operations, including the conference’s highly successful basketball championship, was promoted to her current position in 2014. As associate commissioner for women’s basketball, she manages television scheduling, officiating, branding and messaging. Each year, The American tournament, which she oversees, has been one of the highest attended women’s basketball championships.
