LAKEWOOD RANCH, Florida – Annabelle Abbott’s goal in the seventh minute of double overtime propelled No. 3 seed East Carolina to the 2024 American Women’s Soccer Championship with a 1-0 victory over No. 1 seed Memphis in the final on Sunday, November 10 at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
It was the first American Women’s Soccer Championship for the Pirates (10-3-7) and denied Memphis (13-2-4) its fourth consecutive Championship title. ECU had not played in a conference championship final since 2008. It was the seventh time the American Women’s Soccer Championship has gone to overtime, but only the second that did not need penalties.
