When did the Georgia Bulldogs last win a national championship?

The Georgia Bulldogs have won a college football national championship, but it's been a while since it happened.

Georgia won the national championship in 1980, and also back in 1942; both of those were consensus championships.

The 1980 championship-winning team wen 12-0 under head coach Vince Dooley, defeating Notre Dame 17-10 in the Sugar Bowl. The Bulldogs ended the season as the only undefeated, untied Division I-A team in the nation and were an easy pick for national champion.

That team also saw the debut of freshman season Herschel Walker.

The 1942 team went 11-1 and were led by All-Americans Frank Sinkwich and George Poschner.
