A 47-yarder was both attempted and made in the win over Texas A&M. Joseph Bulovas was 4-for-5 on field goals and perfect on extra points.
The adventure returned Saturday.
Alabama's kicker missed twice from close range in an otherwise stress-free 56-14 pounding of Louisiana-Lafayette. Saban said both occasions they might have gone for it on fourth down.
"But we wanted to see if the kicker could develop confidence and he missed two pretty easy field goals," Saban said, "so that is not what we had planned for him.
