Two years ago at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., Alabama was well-represented as quarterback Blake Barnett took home Elite 11 Most Valuable Player honors and receiver Calvin Ridley was The Opening's overall MVP.
Tua Tagovailoa doubled up on the major Opening honors this year, winning Elite 11 and MVP (of the 7on7) after leading team Vapor Speed to the 7on7 championship. The quarterback committed to Alabama in May. Barnett and Ridley were committed to Alabama at the time and signed in the class of 2015.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Tagovailoa showed poise, maturity, leadership and arm strength.
