My favorite National Signing Day will always be Feb. 5, 2003. It has nothing to do with Nick Saban landing Rivals.com's No. 1 class - at LSU - or Alabama and Auburn signing quality young men such as Tyrone Prothro and Quentin Groves, whom we would lose far too soon last year.
The first Wednesday in February of 2003 will forever be special for a more personal reason. My first child, my first son, Kaiser, was born that day.
My second-favorite National Signing Day will be this one. It'll have nothing to do with who signs where to start his college career and everything to do with the end of an era.
