Tommy Brown (6-feet-6½, 313 pounds) is a four-star offensive tackle from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, a perennial power in the Los Angeles area. He chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, UCLA and others.
Brown said his decision came down to Alabama’s on-field success and its history of developing offensive linemen for the NFL.
“It was really a business decision,” he said. “Alabama is pretty good at making offensive lineman and winning games, so if I want to go to the league, the best business decision would be Alabama. That’s what it really came down to.
