Washington Redskins place Cam Sims on injured reserve

Wide receiver Cam Sims' Cinderella NFL story hit a detour on Tuesday when the Washington Redskins placed him on injured reserve.

An undrafted rookie from Alabama who caught 41 passes during his collegiate career, Sims earned a place on Washington's regular-season roster for the opening game on Sunday.

But while on special teams for his first play in the NFL, Sims suffered an injury and was carted to the locker room during the Redskins' 24-6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

On Monday, Washington coach Jay Gruden said Sims had sustained a high ankle sprain.
