North Dakota couldn't catch up to Jake Walters. Once his teammates caught on at the plate, there was no time for North Dakota to recover.
Alabama (5-1) beat the Fighting Hawks (2-3) 5-2 on Saturday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium to clinch the weekend series. Walters was dominant for much of the afternoon, throwing 13 strikeouts in seven innings. He struck out the last four North Dakota batters he faced, but was at 99 pitches by the end of the seventh. Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard decided to not risk stretching him further than that so early in the season.
