Wake Forest transfer DB embracing bigger role in Alabama secondary

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s defensive depth is being tested, and DaShawn Jones’ value could be increasing.

Jones stepped up for Alabama in relief of DeVonta Smith after Smith was sidelined with an injury versus LSU. Jones’ impact was felt as he went on to play 29 total snaps and finished with a season-high three tackles and half a sack in Alabama’s victory over LSU. He met with the media on Tuesday after practice to discuss his transition from Wake Forest.

“At Wake (Forest), we played quarters, but here it’s a lot of man, and it’s a lot of competition here, especially in the SEC,” Jones said.
