TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — As soon as the fiddle kicks in to pick up the tempo, a wave of energy flows through Bryant-Denny Stadium. Well, “flowed” — past tense.
Following the end of the 2014 Iron Bowl, Alabama Crimson Tide fans lost one of their favorite in-game traditions: “Dixieland Delight.”
The old Alabama song penned by Ronnie Rogers in 1982 was played during the fourth quarter of home games. Tide fans had grown accustomed to the classic country song pulsing through the stadium and even ad-libbed their own take on the chorus, which is apparently where the trouble began.
