Some tough news came Wednesday morning for Minnesota Vikings fans, as tight end Irv Smith will likely miss the entire season with a torn meniscus.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Smith had undergone successful surgery this morning and has a 4-5 month recovery timetable.
Entering his third year in the pros after being selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Smith was coming off the best season of his career with the Vikings catching 30 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns.
2021 was looking like a breakout year for the former Alabama player as the Vikings moved off of long time starter Kyle Rudolph and were counting on Smith for a large amount of production.
