The field at Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium has been named after legendary former football head coach Nick Saban.

Alabama's board of trustees and committee officially approved the honor, meaning the Crimson Tide will play on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. ESPN's Chris Low first reported the news on Thursday.

A ceremony honoring Saban will be held on Sept. 7 as the Crimson Tide face off against South Florida.

Saban retired on Jan. 10 after spending 17 seasons at Alabama, winning six national championships with the school.
