Offensive tackle Charles Baldwin, a four-star prospect who was considered the No. 2 junior college player in the 2016 recruiting class, has been dismissed from Alabama, the school announced Thursday.
A one-sentence statement from coach Nick Saban said Baldwin was dismissed for a violation of team rules.
Baldwin enrolled in January, and speculation was that he would be the leading contender to take over as the starter at right tackle for Dominick Jackson, who was a senior last season. But Baldwin did not live up to expectations and emerged from spring drills as a likely third-teamer.
True freshman offensive tackle Jonah Williams also enrolled in January and was much more impressive than Baldwin; he started at right tackle in the spring game after earning a lot of first-team reps during drills.
