Senior Nikki Hegstetter took a seat on the bench after she fouled out with less than three minutes remaining in the Alabama women’s basketball team’s 93-59 victory over Appalachian State. But she wasn’t done helping her team.
Hegstetter didn’t dwell on the foul that ended her game early. She also didn’t get caught up celebrating her new career-high 17-point game. Instead, she began cheering on her teammates.
“She does things that don’t go on the stat sheet,” sophomore Meoshonti Knight said. “She’s very vocal, and that’s somebody that we can follow because she’s a great leader.
