CARY, N.C. – The University of Alabama baseball team split its pair of games on Saturday at the USA Baseball-Irish Classic, first defeating Niagara, 8-4, in the morning before falling in a 2-1 contest with eighth-ranked N.C. State.
Alabama (9-2) first defeated Niagara, 8-4, in Saturday’s early game. The Crimson Tide notched 11 total hits with seven of the nine starters recording a base hit. The offense was highlighted by Chandler Avant’s 3-for-4 day that included a double, three RBIs, one run and a stolen base. Also contributing multiple RBIs was Hunter Webb, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
