Tide players take advantage of big break to make an impact

The University of Alabama baseball team's cast of characters might not give top billing to players like Daniel Cucjen. But without him, the Crimson Tide's season might be a very different picture.

Cucjen spent his first three years on campus as a utility infielder, picking up 26 combined starts at second base, shortstop and third.

“My job has kind of been to be ready anywhere," he said.

But he's been Alabama's regular shortstop of late, already starting 13 games midway through the season. He's on pace to make the biggest contribution of his career this season, starting eight of Alabama's nine SEC games as the Crimson Tide travels to Kentucky this weekend.
