At least one former University of Alabama softball player will win a championship on her old home field when the National Pro Fastpitch playoffs take place starting this week at Rhoads Stadium.
All four of the league's Crimson Tide alums are coming home with the four-team field set for the NPF Championship Series, which begins Friday with semifinal play.
Outfielders Kelly Kretschman and Haylie McCleney, both four-time All-Americans at Alabama, play for the regular-season champion USSSA Pride. Another four-time All-American, Jackie Triana, pitches for the second-seeded Scrap Yard Dawgs, and third baseman Kelley Montalvo plays for the Akron Racers, who qualified as the fourth seed.
