It doesn't matter who starts.
That's the real truth about Alabama to begin this season. It doesn't matter who plays quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa or Jalen Hurts.
There are some strong opinions, sure. It matters to fans. It'll probably matter in the end. For now, though, there is something more important about Alabama's quarterback competition than who, in the words of Alabama coach Nick Saban, wins the team.
Most people assume it's Tua based on his performance against Georgia in the national championship game. The way he looked off that Georgia safety makes people want to believe he has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in Alabama history.
