Kareem Jackson's football journey will proceed on a new road on Sunday when the former Alabama standout is expected to start at strong safety in the Houston Texans' season-opening game against the New England Patriots.
Entering his ninth season with the Texans, Jackson is now Houston's longest-tenured player. But he's played cornerback in his first eight seasons and is tied for the franchise's record for career interceptions with 14.
Jackson joined the Texans as the 20th player picked in the 2010 NFL Draft. Jackson entered the NFL after playing on coach Nick Saban's first three teams at Alabama, capped by the Crimson Tide's BCS national championship for the 2009 season.
