Terry Rooney officially joins Alabama as pitching coach

The University of Alabama formally announced the hiring of Terry Rooney on Saturday to complete its full-time baseball coaching staff. Rooney will serve as pitching coach and associate head coach.

He arrives in Tuscaloosa after spending the last seven years as head coach at Central Florida, leading the Knights to the NCAA tournament in 2011 and 2012. He resigned that position on July 5.

“There is no doubt that this is a huge day for our program,” Alabama coach Greg Goff said in a press release. “To have the opportunity to hire a guy with the coaching pedigree like Terry Rooney is tremendous.
