Terrence Cody takes stand on second day of his animal-cruelty trial

Taking the witness stand in his animal-cruelty trial on Friday, Terrence Cody said he enjoyed dogs so much that he hid a pet pooch in his dorm room at the University of Alabama.

Cody was a two-time consensus All-American for the Crimson Tide who spent five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. But the NFL team released him on Feb. 2, the day he was indicted on 15 charges by a Baltimore County grand jury.

The initial charges against the former defensive tackle stem from the death of his dog Taz, a Presa Canario or Canary mastiff, that weighed less than 50 pounds when it died.
