Bobby Finke rallied to win the gold medal for the U.S. in the men's 800-meter freestyle Thursday at the Tokyo Olympics.
Finke touched first in a time of 7 minutes, 41.87 seconds, just ahead of Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri (7:42.11) in second.
Mykhailo Romanchuk of Ukraine took the bronze.
The finals for the men's 200-meter breaststroke, women's 200-meter butterfly, men's 100-meter freestyle and women's 4x200m freestyle relay also were scheduled for Thursday.
