Steve Spurrier speaks at SEC Media Days

The Tuscaloosa News

HOOVER | South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said the 2014 Gamecocks gave the critics too many opportunities to criticize last year, with South Carolina finishing 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the SEC.

A 24-21 win over Miami in the Independence Bowl was the difference between a winning season and losing one, and the Gamecocks needed that final boost.

“We lost four of five (games) in the middle of the year, and it looked like we were headed for a losing season,” Spurrier said Tuesday at the 2015 SEC Media Days.
