Chris Hawkins and the South Carolina Upstate Spartans should know their way around Tuscaloosa by now.
“I heard from somebody that they usually don’t send you to the same place three times,” said Hawkins, Upstate’s head softball coach. “I guess they heard wrong.”
Hawkins isn’t complaining about playing in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional for a third straight season. In fact, he considers it an advantage in many ways. Upstate will play Washington on Friday at 12:30 p.m. in a first-round game at Rhoads Stadium.
