The University of Alabama was hoping some fresh blood in the lineup might spark a slumping lineup. Head coach Mitch Gaspard started two new players, but it was the mainstays of the Crimson Tide order that delivered most of the damage in a 6-2 win against Auburn.
Right fielder Chandler Taylor went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and catcher Will Haynie was 2-for-3 with a home run in the series opener on Friday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium before an announced crowd of 6,196.
"You change things up but when it's all said and done, the core of your lineup is going to be the key," Gaspard said.
