A week after about 180 NFL players sat or knelt during the performance of the national anthem, and three teams stayed in the locker room rather than be on the sidelines for "The Star-Spangled Banner," 52 players sat or knelt and one stayed in the locker room for the pre-game tradition on Sunday.
Several of the teams stood with the players' arms locked, and four teams - the Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers - took a knee in unison before the national anthem and stood for the song's performance.
Last week's ballooning of the number of players not standing for the national anthem came after President Donald Trump had said NFL players who did not stand during the national anthem should be fired.
