2 Consecutive seasons as a consensus All-American for Alabama S Minkah Fitzpatrick, who became the Crimson Tide's second straight winner of the Bednarik Award in 2017. Presented annually to the nation's best defensive player, the Bednarik Award was presented to Alabama DE Jonathan Allen in 2016. Fitzpatrick also became the second Alabama player to win the Thorpe Award, which is presented annually to the nation's best defensive back. Alabama's first Thorpe Award winner was Antonio Langham in 1993.
