HOOVER - The SEC baseball tournament’s long run at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium will be a little longer. The league athletic directors voted unanimously on Friday to allow commissioner Greg Sankey to negotiate with the Alabama Sports Council and the city of Hoover to keep the conference tournament where it’s resided since 1998.
Gene Hallman, executive director of The Alabama Sports Foundation, said the tournament will continue for three or five years. An agreement hadn’t been reached on Friday, but the SEC athletic directors gave Sankey license to negotiate with Hoover.
“We do not anticipate any challenges (in negotiations),” Hallman said.
