Nick Saban won his first big recruiting battle against former defensive coordinator Kirby Smart on Monday. Strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran will stay at the University of Alabama instead of joining Smart’s staff at Georgia, the school announced in a press release.
Cochran will receive a nice raise in salary to stay in Tuscaloosa.
Cochran is expected to make in excess of $500,000, The Tuscaloosa News has learned. All contracts must be approved by the UA Compensation Committee, a part of the university's Board of Trustees.
“I’m very happy that Scott Cochran will continue to lead our strength and conditioning program,” Saban said in the release.
