Running back Trent Richardson has been released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, clearing him to sign with the Birmingham franchise of the Alliance of American Football.
Matt Zenith of AL.com reported on July 25 that Richardson planned to sign with the new football league, which is scheduled to begin play in February.
The AAF has announced two rounds of signings since then, with former Alabama players Chris Black, Dominick Jackson, Blake Sims and Bradley Sylve joining Birmingham, but without Richardson appearing on the roster of players for the league.
