HOOVER, Ala. -- SEC commissioner Greg Sankey downplayed the league's off-field issues when addressing reporters in Hoover, Alabama, on Monday, saying, "The fact that we come to media days and there are more extreme headlines is not new."
An NCAA investigation of Ole Miss, a Title IX lawsuit at Tennessee and several arrests of players across the conference have come this offseason, but Sankey pushed back against the narrative that those instances have cast the league in a negative light.
While Sankey delivered his opening statement, it was announced that Auburn would not suspend sophomores Carlton Davis, Byron Cowart, Jeremiah Dinson and Ryan Davis for their arrests for misdemeanor marijuana charges.
