NFL teams selected eight defensive linemen in the 2017 NFL Draft before the New York Giants took Alabama's Dalvin Tomlinson with the 55th pick in April.
None of those earlier selections tallied more tackles than Tomlinson had in his rookie campaign. No rookie defensive lineman did. Tomlinson's 50 tackles also ranked ninth among the NFL's defensive tackles in 2017.
Tomlinson earned a spot on the Professional Football Writers of America's NFL All-Rookie team as he started all 16 games for the Giants at right defensive tackle in 2017.
But while Tomlinson enjoyed individual success, New York set a franchise record for losses in a season by posting a 3-13 record.
