AL.com reports that Burns is taking over the position from former tight ends coach Bobby Williams. Williams was moved into an off-field role recently.
Mario Cristobal will over see the tight ends as well as the offensive tackles. Brent Key was hired to oversee centers and guards, and that led to Williams being moved into an off-field role.
Burns will be in his 10th season as a Tide assistant this fall.
