Report: Alabama G Ross Pierschbacher has high ankle sprain, could miss Iron Bowl

Related Topics: Iron Bowl, High ankle sprain

Alabama fans who were on pins and needles during Saturday’s nail-biter against Mississippi State now have something else to worry about.

Starting left guard Ross Pierschbacher sustained a high ankle sprain during Saturday’s 31-24 victory over the Bulldogs in Starkville, and ESPN reported that he is expected to miss two to four weeks. That puts him at risk of missing the Iron Bowl against Auburn on November 25. The game will decide the SEC West title and the chance to remain in contention for the College Football Playoff.

The upper end of that injury range could sideline Pierschbacher for not only the Iron Bowl but also a potential SEC championship game against Georgia.
