Renovations to Sewell-Thomas Stadium won't affect 2016 season

There may not be any seats or concession stands, but the progress of Alabama’s $42 million renovation to Sewell-Thomas is tangible and ongoing as construction rumbles through the summer months.

The new and improved concourse is starting to take shape. The outlines for areas that will become new luxury suites are visible as is a massive new canopy that will top the stadium and hang over the stands between first and third base.

The school has not identified an exact date of completion, but construction is not expected to affect the Crimson Tide’s 2016 home slate. Alabama will open the year with a three-game series against Maryland, The Tuscaloosa News confirmed.
