Reasons for Nick Saban feeling comfortable with Pete Golding at DC

After the departure of Tosh Lupoi to the National Football League, there were a few names that interviewed for the vacancy at defensive coordinator for the University of Alabama.

Despite some of the coaches having marquee names in this business, Saban has settled on Pete Golding to run the defense next season. The 35-year-old from Louisiana played safety at Delta State (2002-05) and has nine years of experience as a play caller and defensive backs’ coach.

He served at inside linebackers’ coach and co-defensive coordinator last season, helping Dylan Moses become a finalist for the Butkus Award and Quinnen Williams win the Outland Trophy.
