The officiating crew for the Arizona Cardinals-San Francisco 49ers game on Sunday turned in such a poor performance that the NFL changed its assignment this weekend from one of the league's prime-time showcase games to a Sunday afternoon contest.
The crew's most controversial call was a roughing-the-passer penalty against San Francisco left defensive tackle Quinton Dial in the fourth quarter. Although the NFL disciplined the officials involved, that didn't keep the league from disciplining Dial, too.
The former Clay-Chalkville and Alabama standout has been fined $17,363, the standard penalty from the NFL for roughing the passer for a first-time offender.
