After a weekend of criticism via social media over its policy on posthumous inductees, the Pro Football Hall of Fame posted a response on its website on Tuesday.
The families of posthumous inductees do not receive the ring and gold jacket that living Hall of Fame members get. The policy came to the forefront last week when a fan inquired via Twitter when the ring ceremony for Ken Stabler would be held. Rings for the members of the Class of 2016 are being presented at halftime of NFL games this season.
Stabler, who died on July 8, 2015, was a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2016.
