President Donald Trump referred to Nick Saban as Lou Saban repeatedly during a call with Tommy Tuberville a day before Alabama’s Republican runoff race.
This comment came up when Trump praised Tuberville for his success as the head football coach at Auburn.
“Really successful coach,” Trump said during the call. “Beat Alabama, like six in a row, but we won’t even mention that. As he said … because of that, maybe we got ’em Lou Saban … And he’s great, Lou Saban, what a great job he’s done.”
Lou is Nick Saban’s middle name.
However, there is a notable coach with the name Lou Saban, who played for Indiana University and later went on to play for the Cleveland Browns en route to coaching the Bills, Patriots and the Broncos.
