If Alabama defensive tackle Joshua Frazier hadn't gotten drafted, he planned to sign with the Detroit Lions, where Bo Davis, his position coach with the Crimson Tide in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, is the defensive-line coach.
But Frazier did get drafted, and he'll still be reunited with a former position coach, Karl Dunbar, now the Steelers' defensive-line coach after working in that position for Alabama in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
Pittsburgh general manager Kevin Colbert said the Steelers had "extra familiarity" with Frazier because of Dunbar, so they took him in the seventh round on April 28 even though he didn't start a game in four seasons at Alabama.
