TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Junior tight end O.J. Howard was named to the list of eight semifinalists for the prestigious John Mackey Award, the Friends of John Mackey announced Monday. The John Mackey Award is annually presented to the nation’s best tight end.
Howard is currently enjoying the most productive season of his career, providing an impact as both a pass catcher and a blocker. Through 10 games, his 29 catches for 323 yards represent career marks and ranks third on the team in each category. As a physical mismatch for most defenses in the passing game, 15 of his catches have converted first downs for the Tide with five being of 20 yards or more.
