Former Andalusia High School and Alabama linebacker Nico Johnson announced his retirement from football on Friday afternoon.
In a message released via Twitter, Johnson said: "That flame that once burned bright like crazy is very dim, so I'm hanging the cleats up for good."

Johnson has been out of the NFL since being released by the New York Giants on April 12, 2016.
